The NASA TIMED satellite was launched Dec 7, 2001. The network of Ground-Based Instruments (or Instrumentors) (GBI) is supported by NASA and NSF to complement the TIMED instruments.

The CEDAR/TIMED web page gives all GBI locations, describes instrument types, links to data pages, and estimates intercomparisons between GBIs and the satellite instruments. Over 50 web names were granted to TIMED researchers to facilitate CEDAR Database GBI and TIMED validation and science studies. We will demonstrate the tools available at JHU/APL to retrieve both satellite and GBI data (via the CEDAR Database), and the tools available at the CEDAR Database, including the status of the 4 Rocky Mountain imagers.
