The schedule of co-ordinated experiments to be conducted by the World's Incoherent Scatter radars in 2003 will be formally decided during the summer by the URSI Incoherent Scatter Working Group (ISWG).
However, in practice, the planning workshop held each year at the CEDAR meeting largely decides what experiments will be run in the following year and the schedule developed there is normally adopted by the URSI ISWG with minimal modification.
The co-ordinated experiment program ('World days') amounts to about 20 days of observations during the year, ranging for the shortest, 30-hour, experiments to longer campaigns lasting five days or more. This is a significant part of the operation program of the radars.
Anyone can propose experiments to be conducted as part of the program but preference will be given to proposals which require, or greatly benefit from, the co-ordinated operation of all, or most, of the World's facilities. Proposers should come prepared with short presentations to support submissions and should be prepared to suggest suitable dates, or date ranges.
The draft program, and the agreed programs from the last several years, can be seen on the ISWG web site at http://www.eiscat.uit.no/URSI_ISWG.
Participating in this workshop is your chance to influence the programs of these major facilities in the coming year.
