MLTR Sites for TIMED
Several GBIs will be using MLT radars. Scott Palo is coordinating the MLT radar effort for himself, Ruth Lieberman, and Susan Avery. There are 36 TIMED MLT radars total, which are listed in latitudinal order. The basic data are hourly neutral horizontal winds between about 60 and 100 km, from which diurnal tides can be calculated. Data providers send hourly data to Scott Palo, who calculates tides on a monthly basis for TIMED. Stations with analyzed data have links to summary plots and access to the data. The hourly data for overpasses are available, but usually not through the Database. Instead, individual scientists can propose studies to the MLT community through Scott Palo to use the hourly data.
