Virginia Tech College of Engineering VCES Faculty Position in Space Science - review starts 15 Nov
The College of Engineering at Virginia Tech seeks applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position in the area of atmospheric space science and associated space technologies. A doctoral degree or equivalent in engineering, atmospheric space science, or a related field is required. The candidate is expected to have expertise in a topical area such as planetary atmospheres, atmospheric fluid dynamics, upper atmospheric space physics, atmospheric space science experimental techniques and instrumentation, and spacecraft-atmospheric interactions. Prior experience working with a multidisciplinary team on space flight projects is desirable. Senior applicants must have a distinguished scholarship record and demonstrate the ability to establish a vigorous externally funded sponsored research program.
The successful candidate will be a faculty member at the Virginia Consortium of Engineering and Science Universities (VCES) that is located in Hampton, Virginia, with a faculty appointment residing within one or more engineering departments at Virginia Tech. We are looking for a key member of a planned interdisciplinary center for space science and technology research at Virginia Tech. This faculty member is expected to help establish a premiere space science and engineering program in collaboration with other faculty members on the Blacksburg campus as well as with researchers at NASA and other government laboratories.
