Postdoctoral Position in GPS Research at University of Texas at Austin

The Space and Geophysics Laboratory (SGL) of the Applied Research Laboratories (ARL: UT) invites applications for one or more postdoctoral fellowship positions. SGL has an active Global Positioning System (GPS) research and development program. SGL has active research interests in a number of GPS related application areas, including: High-precision positioning, Coupling of GPS receivers with other sensor technology, Development of GPS software receiver technology, Determination of environmental characteristics from GPS observations, and techniques and methods for global monitoring of GPS signals.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in natural sciences or engineering. Individuals with research experience in GPS data processing, analysis of experimental data, signal processing and/or hardware development are preferred, but all candidates are encouraged to apply. Software development as well as laboratory skills are desired but are not essential. The successful applicant should demonstrate strong potential as an independent researcher and small team (2-5 people) collaborator.

Appointment Period

The appointment is contingent upon the completion of the requirements for a Ph.D. and will be for an initial period not to exceed one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year. Outstanding recipients may be considered for staff positions at the completion of their appointment. U.S. citizenship is required. All positions are security sensitive and a background investigation will be conducted.

Salary

Commensurate with experience, but no less than $60K annually, depending upon qualifications. Excellent fringe benefits.
