Space Physics Post-Doc or Res. Assoc. at U of Saskatchewan, CA - due 14 Aug
The Institute of Space and Atmospheric Studies (ISAS) at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications from candidates interested in a Postdoctoral or Research Associate position in space physics. The scientific research primarily involves high latitude radio observations, using the SuperDARN network of HF coherent radars, including the new PolarDARN radar at Rankin Inlet, and the polar network of CADI (Canadian Advanced Digital Ionosonde) ionosondes. Advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required, as other instruments, both ground-based and on satellites, will be used in the analysis where possible. Ground-based instruments from the Canadian GeoSpace Monitoring (CGSM) program and satellite instruments, particularly those on the upcoming ePOP (enhanced Polar Outflow Probe) satellite, will be of particular interest. Topics of specific interest include ionospheric structures, magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, gravity waves and the associated TIDs, and radio propagation studies.
The position is intended to last two years, but employment in the second year will depend on progress made in the first year. Experience in space science studies and in the use of radars will be an asset.
Please send a cover letter with a statement of interests and experience, and a curriculum vitae including the names and addresses of three references by either email (PDF format) or regular post to:
