Space Environment Modelling Post Doc at the University of Michigan
The Center for Space Environment Modeling (CSEM) at the University of Michigan is seeking a Post Doc to work in the area of numerical modeling. At CSEM, we have models of the ionosphere and thermosphere (GITM), the ionospheric electrodynamics (AMIE and others), the polar wind (PWOM), the magnetosphere (BATSRUS) and the inner magnetosphere (HEIDI). Further, we have a framework that couples all of these models together (SWMF) and we are working on data assimilation techniques for ingesting different measurements into the simulations. CSEM is an extremely diverse group of scientists studying everything from the Sun to the Earth's atmosphere and magnetosphere to the thermospheres of Titan and Mars.
We are interested in hiring researchers who would like to help to advance these models and/or utilize the models to better understand the physical processes that control our near-Earth space environment. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and have some relevant experience using numerical models. This position will be available for one year, but can be renewed for an additional year. If interested, please send a CV to Aaron Ridley (ridley@umich.edu, (734) 764-5727) via e-mail.
