Applications are invited for a position as a Research Fellow at level A or B in the School of Physics. The appointee will develop scientific models that can forecast the nature and properties of space weather events at Earth based on radio and other data. The work will involve numerical analysis of spacecraft and ground-based data, development of numerical theoretical models, making predictions for space weather events, and detailed comparison of predictions with experimental data from international spacecraft and ground observatories.
Applicants must have: (1) a PhD or equivalent (or have submitted their thesis before applying) in space physics, plasma physics, astrophysics, or theoretical physics; (2) a strong focus on numerical and computational techniques; (3) proven research ability; (4) evidence of research potential; (5) evidence of potential for future development; (6) the ability to work cooperatively with others; (7) demonstrated written communication skills (including papers published in or submitted to refereed journals); and (8) experience in numerical calculations.
The following are Desirable Criteria for appointment at Level A but Essential Criteria for appointment at Level B: (9) experience in space weather research; (10) experience in comparing theory with observational data.
