Tenure Track Faculty Position at Siena College - due 1 Nov
The Department of Physics at Siena College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position starting Fall, 2008. A PhD in physics or a closely related field is required, and postdoctoral and teaching experience are desirable. Candidates from a variety of specializations who are interested in teaching and research in a liberal arts setting are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to teach enthusiastically and effectively in introductory and non-majors' courses, as well as in courses for physics majors. The ability to teach a first course in computational physics is a plus. He or she will also be expected to develop an active research program involving undergraduate students. A facility for obtaining external funding is considered desirable. The Department of Physics consists of six full-time faculty, and currently there are active research programs in astronomy, atomic physics, biophysics, computational physics and space physics. Siena College is located in the Capital District of New York State, a region with many vibrant and growing institutions engaged in science and R & D.
