Postdoc or Researcher with Solar Bolometric Imager (SBI) at JHU/APL
Solar Physics Research Position. The Space Physics Group of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) has an opening for a Post-Doctoral Fellow or experienced researcher in Solar Physics. As a scientist in a nationally recognized research and development organization, the selected candidate will (1) carry out basic research in solar physics and publish the results, (2) support ongoing programs in solar physics involving one or more of the following: space instrumentation, mission data analysis, and modeling, and (3) support proposal efforts for new and ongoing programs. Requirements include a PhD in Astrophysics, Solar Physics, or a related field; and demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written. Although not required, experience in solar irradiance research and a record of individual grant or mission support are desirable. The successful applicant will participate in the design, construction, flight operation and data analysis in the Solar Bolometric Imager (SBI) and other programs. A balloon-borne version of SBI will be launched in Antarctica in early 2007. Details can be found at the project web site: http://sd-www.jhuapl.edu/SBI/.
The position will be at the level of Post-Doctoral Fellow or Senior Staff, depending on experience and qualifications.
