Postdoc at Reunion Island on tropical cyclones - due 30 Sep
Postdoctorate at LPA (Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics) - Metio France - REUNION ISLAND
Studies on the interaction between the Potentiel Vorticity anomaly and tropical cyclone are really important for predicting and understanding the cyclone intensity. In fact, if the model analyzes exactly, the Rossby Wave Breaking (RWB) at the level of westerly jet which are again underestimate the sudden changes in the intensity of different kinds of cyclones. Such interaction seems to be depend on the RWB intensity and can by quantified by the PV maximum. The post doctorate will undertake the climatological aspects of cyclone, preferably the evolution of cyclone eye (for example., Dina 2002). The earlier reports are suggested that the RWB intensify the part of the cyclone, i.e., the center upper level without any impact on the convection (Shapiro etal., 2003). The candidate will also improve the work on the interaction between the undulation activity and the cyclone genesis, which was realized only by description. We will then try to understand the source of energy attained by the RWB intensifies the cyclone and how the interaction is made. In such cases, the mesoscale simulation analysis are needed for further understanding.
Fellowship of 9 months for a foreign candidate less old than 35 years old on 31 december 2005. The remuneration is around 1830 euros out of taxes.
