Space Physics tenure position at University of Otago, New Zealand - due 31 Oct

Dear colleagues,

I would like to alert you to an academic position which is now open at the Physics Department, University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. The position is "confirmation path", equivalent to tenure track positions in the USA. Candidates should have demonstrated research achievements, a commitment to excellence in teaching and research, and show potential for research leadership and success in competitive research funding. An appropriately qualified applicant may be appointed at the level of Associate Professor. The position closes at the end of this month (31 October 2007).

Preference will be given to applicants whose research is compatible with one or more of the Physics Department's current research strengths, which includes the Space Physics research group. Our groups' research activities include studies in atmospheric electricity, the Van Allen radiation belts, the plasmasphere and lower ionosphere.
