Position in Experimental Solar-Terr. Science at NJ Inst of Tech - 1 Mar

The Department of Physics announces an opening at the Assistant Professor level to be funded jointly by the NSF-ATM Faculty Bridge Program and the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The faculty position will be based within the Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research (CSTR; [http//solar.njit.edu/ http//solar.njit.edu/]), an internationally recognized center with an outstanding solar physics program. The Center operates the Big Bear Solar Observatory and the Owens Valley Solar Array. The Center also has an active ground-based program in ionosphere and magnetosphere research using instrumentation at several locations in the Antarctic, and is involved in several space plasma missions, including Ulysses and ACE. We are seeking an outstanding individual with a strong background in experimental ground-based ionosphere/magnetosphere research. The individual is expected to have an excellent education and research background in instrument design and implementation for ground based space plasma research and to develop a research program which involves students (graduate and undergraduate). The individual will be expected to take an active role in the CSTR and NJIT, and to contribute intellectually to the cultural diversity of this urban research university. Evaluation of applications will commence on 1 March 2005. Application letters, together with a CV, a list of publications and the names of at least three references should be sent to Professor Louis J. Lanzerotti, Chair of the Solar-Terrestrial Search Committee, Department of Physics, New Jersey Institute of Technology, University Heights, Newark, New Jersey 07102-1982, email ljl@adm.njit.edu. NJIT is an equal opportunity/affirmative-action employer.
