Job in Centre for Space Physics at U. of Newcastle, Australia - due 19 Jan

The School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MAPS) provides a comprehensive range of courses in Mathematics, Physics and Statistics and is particularly strong in research. The Centre for Space Physics in the School has a strong international reputation for experimental and theoretical studies in magnetospheric and ionospheric physics. The Centre enjoys comprehensive facilities, is a partner in the TIGER SuperDARN radar consortium, and developed its own magnetometer payload on the FedSat spacecraft.

The School is seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer to contribute to the teaching and research activities of the School and in particular with the Centre for Space Physics. The successful candidate will be expected to teach across a range of undergraduate courses in Physics, and contribute to and develop research in magnetospheric and ionospheric physics.

This position is available on a fixed term basis for 2 years, with the possibility of extension. Women are particularly encouraged to apply as they are underrepresented in the School's academic profile. Selection criteria are: PhD in magnetospheric, ionospheric or plasma physics or other relevant field; some experience in teaching physics at a tertiary level; capacity to undertake and publish research in international peer-reviewed journals; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
