Position in the PEACE electron spect. team at Mullard UCL, London - due 26 May

Applicants are invited for a position in the PEACE Operations Team at the Mullard Space Science Laboratory (University College London) based in the Surrey Hills. Six PEACE electron spectrometer instruments (ten sensors) are currently collecting data on the ESA Cluster and CNSA/ESA Double Star magnetospheric research spacecraft.

You will join a team responsible for all aspects of PEACE operations, from routine commanding and instrument performance evaluation, through data handling activities and in-flight instrument calibration, to providing accurate electron moments data (density, velocity and temperature). A background in space plasma physics, experience of handling and managing large datasets, and familiarity with any of the following would be an advantage; Perl, C/C++, LINUX, IDL, Matlab. The appointment will start as soon as possible, initially for one year, and may be extended subject to successful completion of a probationary period. Salary will be between spine points 24-31, depending on experience.
