Scientific Jobs available at Lidar Technologies Ltd. UK - due 17 Apr

Lidar Technologies Ltd (UK) invites applications for two immediate appointments for Scientists qualified and experienced at a Post-Doctoral level in the area of the design and modelling of scientific instrumentation.

The successful applicant will join a specialised team working on a range of exciting projects. These projects include investigations into the Meteorological Factors involved in Aviation Safety, such as Wind-Shear, Clear-Air Turbulence and Wake-Vortex; The Development, Adaptation and Exploitation of Imaging Lidar technologies for future use with Autonomous Spacecraft, including Planetary Missions; Fabrication of an Optical Instrument for the Mercury Magnetospheric Orbiter of the JAXA / ESA Bepi-Colombo Mission; Investigations and Modelling of the performance of Space-Borne Lidar systems aimed at a wide range of Atmospheric Science Objectives; Ground-based Lidar Systems for pollution studies, atmospheric dynamics and meteorology.

A Ph.D., and well-developed programming and IT skills are required. Experience with one or both of the following topics is essential: Optical Instrumentation, particularly that related to modern Lidar Systems and related technologies; and / or Atmospheric Physics. Experience with Zemax is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidate should be a "self starter", capable of working, using his or her own initiative to carry projects forward, while working within a coordinated team on major Projects.
