Two Tenure-Track Positions at La Trobe University, Australia - due 18 Aug
These are Lecturer / Senior Lecturer; Full-time, Level B / Level C positions in the School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, Department of Physics.
The Department of Physics is seeking to appoint two full time Lecturers/Senior Lecturers with experience in one of the research areas in which the department has strong research programs, Space Physics, Surface and Materials Science or X-ray optics. Excellent opportunities exist for new staff interested in teaching and the development of research congruent with existing programs.
The research emphasis in Space Physics is in solar terrestrial physics and experimental facilities include the TIGER SuperDARN radars, ionospheric radars and optical spectrometers in Australia and Antarctica and FedSat.
In Materials and Surface Science experimental programs include studies of the electronic states in conducting materials, the structure of surfaces, the formation of low dimensional structures, magnetic thin film devices, studies in polymers and semiconductor surface science, micro-contact printing and bio-diagnostic devices. The research is supported by state of the art imaging XPS, TOFSIMS, III-V and metals MBE, scanning probe technologies and with an angle resolving electron spectrometer at the Berlin Synchrotron.
In x-ray optics current research activities include, microfabrication of x-ray optics, x-ray phase imaging and tomography and coherent diffractive imaging. The research is conducted using our high resolution x-ray microscopy facility and at synchrotron facilities worldwide and, soon, at the Australian Synchrotron. A major component of the research involves interactions with the biological sciences and this is a theme of our collaboration within the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coherent X-ray Science.
The closing date is 18 August.
Applications can be submitted via mail, email or fax. The full advertisement and other details are available at: http://www.latrobe.edu.au/hr/jobs.
