Scientist and Software Job with large models at HAO/NCAR
The High Altitude Observatory of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado, has entry-level openings for an associate scientist and a software engineer. Both positions are in the Atmosphere-Ionosphere-Magnetosphere section of HAO/NCAR. The associate scientist position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a physical science, mathematics, engineering, or computer science, basic knowledge of electricity and magnetism, fluid mechanics, and chemistry, mathematical and numerical analysis skills, and working knowledge of scientific programming languages. The software engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or natural sciences, experience in scientific programming and graphical display languages, and basic mathematical skills. Both positions will involve developing and maintaining large-scale models of the upper atmosphere and magnetosphere such as the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model and the Coupled Magnetosphere-Ionosphere-Thermosphere Model.
