George Mason U assistant prof job in planetary science - due 10 Dec

George Mason University Department of Physics and Astronomy is accepting applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in the field of planetary science. We are looking for either an observational or theoretical planetary scientist, but are particularly interested in applicants with research experience related to extra-solar planets. Successful candidates should have post-doctoral experience and show promise for developing an independent, externally-funded research program. The department of physics and astronomy is a dynamic and growing department with 26 faculty members. The Washington, D.C. area offers prospects for collaboration with astronomers and physicists at nearby federal laboratories such as NIST, NRL, Goddard Space Flight Center and the Carnegie Institute of Washington as well as a number of nearby universities. Successful candidates will teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and play an active role in the department.
