Postdoc in Arctic climate research using lidar at Dalhousie U, Canada

The Atmospheric-Optics Lab in Physics and Atmospheric Science at Dalhousie University (Halifax, Canada) seeks a postdoctoral fellow to operate and maintain a new Raman lidar system located in the High Arctic at Eureka, Nunavut Territory, as part of the Arctic Radiative Environment Theme of the Canadian Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Change (CANDAC). The lidar will be used to measure tropospheric temperatures and water vapour, in addition to the optical properties of aerosols and ice crystals, and will be operated in conjunction with an Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer (AERI). This is a research position, and the successful applicant will be required to analyze the measurements and publish the results. Experience in lidar operations and/or high-energy laser systems is desired, although a firm grounding in other areas of experimental science may be accepted. Field trips to Eureka are an important aspect of the position, and computer programming ability is required. The successful applicant will take a leadership role in a highly collaborative environment.
