The position involves working with scientists and engineers within the University of Colorado at Boulder in the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences (AES) and the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) to develop laser remote sensing instrumentation for application to atmospheric research. This position is located in CIRES at Boulder, Colorado at the University of Colorado.

Essential Functions:

  • The essential function will be to assist, or possibly lead, the design and construction of laser radar systems for deployment in remote field sites; for example, develop Raman, IR and polarization receiver channels for a laser radar system in Greenland, assist in the refurbishment and improvement to the Fe Boltzmann lidar transmitter for future deployments, assist with CU optics/lidar laboratories and the development of a local lidar observatory.
  • The position also involves participation in proposal activities and research studies.
  • Some travel is expected to assist in deploying and operating instruments at remote field sites.
  • Assist and train graduate students in the lidar labs and in remote deployments.
