ITM and space plasma postdocs at University of Calgary, Canada
From: Andrew Yau (yau at phys.ucalgary.ca)
The Institute of Space and Imaging Science (ISIS; formerly Institute for Space Research) at the University of Calgary seeks two postdoctoral fellows in ionosphere-thermosphere-magnetosphere (ITM) and space plasma research. Both are two-year positions, with the possibility of extension to a third year. The successful applicants will be expected to participate in the development of low-energy plasma and neutral particle imagers, and to pursue data analysis in high-latitude ionosphere-thermosphere-magnetosphere coupling using both satellite and ground data. In particular, there will be opportunities to work on instruments for the ORBITALS and ISWEAT satellites, and on data from the CASSIOPE/e-POP satellite.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in physics, space physics or engineering physics obtained within the last 3 years. The successful applicants will have a strong background in experimental space or plasma physics, demonstrated experience in the development of space-borne plasma probes, and an ability to engage in independent research and publish the results in refereed journals. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Interested applicants are invited to send a statement of interests, a resume including publication list and the names and addresses of three references to: Prof. A.W. Yau by email at yau@phys.ucalgary.ca. For further information, please contact Drs. A.W. Yau and D.J. Knudsen at yau@phys.ucalgary.ca and knudsen@phys.ucalgary.ca, respectively.
The University of Calgary respects, appreciates and encourages diversity. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. Applications will be considered until the positions are filled.
