Job offer: Full-time position for one year, with the chance of continuation, of a (post-doc) Plasma Physicist at the Space Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, at Graz, Austria, starting October 1, 2006.
You have a PhD in physics and you like to join a small team in the field of plasma physics and magnetohydrodynamics, which is involved in theoretical modelling with particular emphasis to space physics problems and data interpretation. You possess good communication skills, flexibility, working on own initiative, working with international co-workers and students, and you have the qualifications, as given below, then please send your application to the indicated address.
Job description: Semi-numerical/analytical modelling in magnetohydrodynamics and kinetic theory; theoretical investigations of space plasma problems; working in an international team; working with and advising students; validation of the theoretical considerations against data as well as data interpretation.
Qualifications: PhD in physics; good knowledge of magnetohydrodynamics and kinetic theory; appropriate knowledge of the English language; good skills and experience in Mathematica, C (or Fortran), IDL programming. Advantageous experience and knowledge: General space plasma theory; experience in lecturing; Matlab; knowledge in solar planetary physics; professional experience.
