Post-Doc research appoint with Atmospheric Sciences Group at MIT Haystack Observatory in Westford, Massachusetts
A post-doctoral research appointment is available with the Atmospheric Sciences Group at MIT Haystack Observatory in Westford, Massachusetts (http://www.haystack.mit.edu). This position is associated with the Millstone Hill Incoherent Scatter radar which is supported by the NSF Upper Atmospheric Facilities program. A suitable candidate will develop ionospheric measurement techniques to expand the capabilities of the high power large aperture radar system and implement new experiments to investigate the physics of the mid-latitude ionosphere.
Direct experience in ionospheric radar systems, the incoherent scatter technique, and the analysis of ionospheric radar measurements are desired. Significant knowledge of ionospheric plasma physics, radar signal processing, and software development would be advantageous. A recent PhD in a radio science related field is required. The initial appointment will be for two years, with possible extension to a third year depending on satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.
