Postdoc in Planetary Atmospheres at Australian National University - due 3 July
Postdoctoral Fellowship in Planetary Atmospheres in the College of Science at Australian National University, Fixed Term - 1 to 2 years, Academic Level A, Salary Package: AUD 49,690 - 59,963 pa plus 17% super. The minimum salary for applicants holding a PhD is AUD56,035. Reference: PSE 3427
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Research School of Physical Sciences and Engineering (RSPhysSE) in the area of photochemical and radiative transfer modeling of the Venus atmosphere. The appointee will work with Dr. Frank Mills on numerical modeling to interpret observations of Venus, including those from instruments on Venus Express, and numerical modeling of the chemistry of the Venus atmosphere. The incumbent will join the rapidly expanding Planetary Science Institute at the ANU and will have the opportunity to work with collaborators from Caltech, JPL, SRI International, Canterbury (NZ), Oxford, Macquarie University (Australia) and other institutions as part of the Venus Express multi-disciplinary science team. Funding for this Fellowship has been received from the Australian Research Council, so the successful candidate may commence immediately. The initial appointment may be for one to two years. Renewal of the appointment is contingent on satisfactory progress and the availability of funding.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant physical science discipline; skills and experience in mathematics, computer programming, numerical modeling, atmospheric physics, atmospheric chemistry, spectroscopic remote sensing, planetary science, radiative transfer modeling, or chemical physics; and good communication skills.
