AFRL lunch 1 May at Space Weather Week in Boulder for job seekers

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Weather Center of Excellence is opening several engineer and research positions in the general area of Space Sciences. In order to advertise these positions we will be hosting a luncheon for interested people at noon on Thursday, May 1 during Space Weather Week at the Millennium Hotel Boulder, Colorado in Suite 231. At this luncheon AFRL will present more information about this opportunity and answer questions. Seating will be limited and box lunches will be provided for attendees. Those interested in attending the luncheon should RSVP to Shawn Young (Shawn.Young@Kirtland.af.mil) by Thursday, April 17, 2008.

AFRL needs research personnel with skills in all aspects of space weather: the Sun and solar wind, magnetosphere, ionosphere and thermosphere. Candidates should be familiar with the analysis of ground and satellite data, have strong modeling experience, or have expertise in designing and building instrumentation for space environmental sensing. Successful applicants will have demonstrated skills in creativity, leadership, communication and flexibility; they should be highly dedicated, able to work in a team environment and must be US citizens.

Positions will be open for applicants with Bachelors, Masters or PhD degrees in space sciences or related field. Salaries will be commensurate with experience.

The Space Weather Center of Excellence is primarily located at Hanscom Air Force Base, near Boston, MA. Under the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) decision in 2005, this division will move to Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, NM by 2011. Candidates hired prior to June 2009 should be willing to initially relocate to Massachusetts and then from Massachusetts to New Mexico by 2011; those hired after June 2009 may choose to move directly to New Mexico.

Those unable to attend this luncheon may make informal inquiries of and/or send preliminary resumes to Dr. Joel Mozer (Joel.Mozer@hanscom.af.mil).
