Space Weather Job at Atmospheric and Environmental Research in Massuchusetts
Atmospheric and Environmental Research (AER) has an opening for a research scientist in the area of Space Weather nowcasting and forecasting. Applicants are sought to assist in the development of both theoretical and empirical data assimilation models. Specific areas of interest are atmospheric gravity waves and tides, and the conditions whereby these effects propagate to higher altitude, but all candidates with the necessary skills and career interests are encouraged to apply. The work involves participation in programs that include model development, real-time data assimilation, validation, and product development. The individual will also participate in presenting results and in writing reports and proposals. Candidates should have an MS or Ph.D. degree or equivalent work experience in atmospheric science, physics, mathematics, or a related field and be skilled with FORTRAN, C, and IDL programming in a UNIX environment.
