One of the conveners (AJR) has to attend GEM, so this should be on a day in which GEM people will be attending. Also, the same convener is participating in at least three sessions on modeling and validation. (It is not entirely crucial that he be attendance, though, if it can not be helped.)

Description
The Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model (WACCM) version 4 will be released June 2010. WACCM simulates the atmosphere from the ground up to 140 km altitude. It is capable of running coupled to interactive land, ocean, and sea ice models, and of performing long-term (~100 years) climate integrations. WACCM can be utilized to investigate the coupling between different atmospheric regions, having a large number of chemical reactions and full atmospheric dynamics. It can also provide tidal inputs into upper atmosphere models. In this session, we will describe how to download the model, compile it, run it and visualize the results. Presentations are encouraged by those conducting scientific studies utilizing WACCM for middle and upper atmospheric research.
